Pop star Molly Grace will return to NYC this fall.
Molly Grace (@mollygracemusic) is a pop star who blends dreamlike imagery with flirty and unapologetically queer narratives.
In honor of her plans to return to New York, we’re releasing our chat with her from this March.
We caught up briefly after her Mercury Lounge set with a discussion about all things ‘Glee,’ queer resistance, and how she brings her ideas to life.
Don’t miss her return to NYC October 21, 2025 at Bowery Ballroom with supporting artist Meg Smith.

I feel like your music is pop, but almost jazz-inspired. Is there a specific genre or style that you feel most connected to, or do you see yourself blending multiple influences?
Oh, thank you so much! Pop is definitely my main flavor, but I love blending elements of other genres that I love too. Namely funk, disco, and soul.
How do you find inspiration for new material?
Definitely mostly from personal experiences. Sometimes I’m inspired by the lives of those around me, but I feel like there’s always some kernel of truth in there from my life.
‘F.E.M.M.E.’ has picked up a lot of traction on socials. What’s been your favorite part about watching your fanbase grow?
The best part has definitely been getting to meet my new fans in person at my shows. It’s been crazy to see the crowds grow.
Yes, you sold out Mercury Lounge! Congratulations! How did the show go? What was the vibe like on stage and with the audience?
I know and I still can’t believe it a month later!! The show was absolutely incredible. It was the first show of this tour and it set the bar real high. First of all, playing to a full room like that was just insane. The audience was so receptive, sweet, and energetic. They sang every word back at me. After the show I got to hang at the merch table for hours and meet so many fans. I don’t take a second of it for granted! … The Mercury Lounge is such an iconic venue. So many of my favorite artists have come through there. NYC just has such a special energy and spirit that I love to experience.
How’s your time here been? Try anything new?
I got to perform and visit the Stonewall Visitors’ Center for the first time. It brought me to tears to be there. I didn’t get to hang around NYC for toooo long sadly, but I never leave without getting a bagel and a slice of pizza.
You’ve described your music as a form of resistance. That your community deserves to be joyful, and queer joy is resistance.
There’s a famous quote that says, “during the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night.” While the queer community is under attack, it sometimes feels like all we do is mourn the hurting of our people and fight for our rights. The joy is how we keep going, and it’s our human right!
Your sets are a true disco experience! What are you thinking about when planning them?
Thank you so much! My tour manager, Sam Martin, and I work a lot on them. The main goal is to never have a dull moment… the audience should feel engaged at every moment! Energetic, dazzling, and intimate…

Do you have any rituals to keep the energy before performing?
I feel like the name of the game while touring is keeping myself healthy! That looks like sleeping if I can, stretching, warming up, taking lots of vitamins and drinking lots of tea. Before performing I warm up and drink some warm tea and take some deep breaths. I also always do a band huddle with my team.
No TV? We hear you’re a ‘Glee’ fan! If you could duet with any character from the show, who would it be and what would you sing?
Oh… I am a HUGE Gleek. I have a few favorite performances. Rachel’s “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” Kurt’s “Rose’s Turn”, Mercedes’ “Bust Your Windows” and the entire Rocky Horror episode.
Switching gears, what can you tell us about what’s next? Is there a breakup anthem in the works? Will New York be seeing you again soon?
Oh, I’m alwaysss writing a breakup anthem! They’re too fun to write! You will be hearing a lot of new music this year, so don’t worry. New York will hopefully be seeing me again this year. Y’all know I can’t stay away too long!
